This mate cup is handmade out of a calabash (pumpkin). Expert Argentinians use their skills to create a genuine yerba mate gourd cup. These Mate gourds were carefully selected by us for the quality, thickness and craftsmanship along with the natural coloring methods.

This mate Argentino kit includes a yerba mate cup and a stainless mate straw.

They are handmade by artisans, each gourd will have its own unique characteristics. In general gourds are approximately the size of an average fruit (apple, pear or peach), some are a little bigger, some are a little smaller.

MATE STYLES

PAMPA

The patron ferrule “PAMPA” is the Mapuche guard of southern Argentina, full of ancestral meaning very used in the traditional and urban artisan design of the area.

ORIGINAL

Due to its ferrule style, it is the most common and traditional design, which is why it is called “ORIGINAL”, and can be obtained in black or brown leather.

NORTE

The “NORTE” ferrule design is inspired by the cave art of northern Argentina, representing the customs and beliefs oF the indigenous inhabitants of the argentine soil.

CURING PROCESS

Step by step

YERBA MATE CUP: This mate cup is handmade out of a calabash (pumpkin). Expert Argentinians use their skills to create a genuine yerba mate gourd cup.

MATE CUP: This mate tea cup is called “imperial” because it is the most popular style among Argentinian truckers It has a wider shape that allows the water not to overflow so easily.
AUTHENTIC: This yerba mate cup is wrapped in genuine Argentinian leather and then carefully hand-sewn.
CURING PROCESS: This gourd mate cup requires a simple curing process: First fill it with used yerba and leave it for 48 hs. After that, remove the yerba with a spoon and lightly scrape the interior. Finally let the mate dry and repeat the process between 3-5 times
